Phased care during the pregnancy

At the beginning of your pregnancy, you need different care than at the end. It is common to divide the pregnancy into two periods:

During the course of your pregnancy, you will have more frequent appointments:

  • Between 10 and 20-weeks pregnancy, every 4 weeks
  • Between 20 and 30-weeks pregnancy, every 3 weeks
  • Between 30 and 36-weeks pregnancy, every 2 weeks
  • From 36 weeks, every week.

Depending on your personal situation, you may have more or less check-ups.

Every check-up consists of:

  • A discussion: You discuss how you experience the pregnancy.
  • You may ask any questions you may have.
  • A physical examination.
  • Listen to the baby’s heartbeat.
  • An examination to follow the growth and position of the baby.
  • You will also have regular ultrasounds.
