Prenatale screening

You can have your child tested to see if they have a condition. Or a physical defect. This is prenatal screening.

There are two types of screening:

  1. Tests to detect Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome and Patau syndrome and possibly other chromosomal abnormalities: the NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Test).
The NIPT is a test in which the pregnant woman gives some blood. The laboratory tests the blood. The NIPT is done from 11 weeks pregnancy and requires an excess payment of 175 Euro.
  2. Examination for physical abnormalities: the 13-week ultrasound and the 20-week ultrasound.

You are free to decide if you want to have these tests done. You can also ask me to help you decide.

You decide how far you want to go and can stop the testing at any time.

During the first visit, you will be asked if you want to find out more about these tests. If yes, this will be discussed in detail. You will also receive a folder in which you can read it all again.
